The Scottish Dancing Association of Australia (SDAA) was established over 50 years ago as a means of creating a standard of dance that conforms in all respects with the standard laid down by the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing. We are a non-profit organisation that has the enjoyment and promotion of Highland Dancing at its core.

The Anderson Dancing Studio specialises in Highland Dancing in Country Victora, Shepparton and Bendigo Areas. Classes are offered for students aged 5 years up. The studio has been operating since 1991.
Sarah Gordon (Ne: Anderson) is the principal teacher of the school, and she has danced for over 20 years (and is still dancing). Sarah has studied in Scotland and is a member of the Scottish Dance Teachers Alliance (SDTA) both Highland and National branches.

Our Highland Dance troupe perform throughout the year including the Fremantle Burns Club, Westralian Perthshire Scottish Association, the Perth International Tattoo, Shopping Centres and community functions.

The Johnston School of Highland Dancing was formed in 1992 in Toowoomba Queensland. Principal of the Studio is Margaret Johnston. Margaret Johnston is a registered Teacher with QSDA & NDAA in Australia. She is a Judge on the SOBHD world-wide panel.
The Johnston Studio has trained many Dancers for Teachers Examinations and produced several Champion Dancers.

Based on NSW's Central Coast - the PHDA run several events for Highland Dancers Nation wide including the Annual Championships which have been held since 1982. The PHDA support many events financially including the Down Under the Kilt concerts.

We were established in 1960 and are a group of friendly people who meet for an evening of social dancing. All ages welcome (15-90), come alone or with a partner. Beginners very welcome.
If you would like to join us we can be found at the United Church Hall, Kalgoorlie Street, Mt Hawthorn, Perth Western Australia, on any Wednesday 8.00pm from 1st week in March to 1st week in December.

Based on NSW's Central Coast - the VLSHD trains dancers in SOBHD technique for competitions, examinations and displays. Principal Veronica McFarland has trained dancers to World Championship level. The school performs in several non-competitive events annually.

We in Madras (now called Chennai) have a Scottish Country Dance Group going since the early 1970's.
We meet every Monday at members' homes and celebrate Burns Supper and St. Andrews Night every year with traditional Scottish fare including Haggis, which is usually brought in by members visiting the UK.
I am a former Chieftain and would be happy to meet any visitors who have an interest in Scottish Country Dancing.

There is a group which dances in Tokyo on Friday evenings. They also have dances on some Saturdays. I was only able to make it to one of their classes, but they were very welcoming and were lovely dancers, as well. A friend of mine was able to visit with them several times while she was in Japan, and she also had a wonderful time. The teaching is mostly in Japanese, but the figures and dances are all described in English, and the English of many of the dancers is excellent.

The Caledonian Society of Oman Scottish Country Dancers has an adult class once a week from September until June for all levels of dancers from beginners upwards. In addition they have a demonstration group consisting of anything from 8 - 14 dancers (depending on who is in town) which also meets once a week and performs whenever and wherever invited. This is, of course, for dancers with some experience. From time to time they also run children's classes in various schools in the city.

The Scottish St Andrews Society of Abu Dhabi (AD Scots) is a charitable organization aimed at fostering social activities and friendly relations between all nationalities and Scottish residents in Abu Dhabi. AD Scots also aims to cultivate strong relations between the Scottish Community, all nationalities and the citizens of Abu Dhabi while supporting a number of local and Scottish charities. AD Scots boasts 18 nationalities in its membership and promotes a diverse and fun culture within the group.
