Relevant mailing discussion lists

Various mailing discussion lists provide forums for discussion on related topics. I have nothing to do with these sites, so can take neither credit nor blame - if you want to comment, please contact the maintainer(s) of the site in question.

• Highland-Dance@tardis.ed.ac.uk. Covers topics related to Highland and other Scottish Step Dancing - performing, playing, teaching, instructions, ...
• The highland dance network - mailing list which spun off from the highland-dance mailing list (above) to discuss the politics of highland dancing.
• Ceilidh Junkies Online.
• The Scots_music list. Formerly known as Scots-L.
• IVFDF: ivfdf-news@tardis.ed.ac.uk. The Inter-Varsity folk dance festival - generally news of what's coming up next year.
• The Traditional Scottish Music and Culture list: scots-l@argyll.wisemagic.com.
• Dance Addicts discussion list - a world-wide discussion list mainly for people who do more than one form of social dance. The major topics are:
  • Similarities/differences between dance types
  • Study of the Social/Psychological aspects of Social Dance
  • Related teaching, issues such as shoes, clothing, venues, music for dancing, etc.
• Folk Dance Association group This group is for all people interested in any kind of folk, square, contra, English, Scottish, swing, ballroom, cajun, zydeco, Israeli, ethnic, clog, lindy, recreational, step or vintage dance.
• Scottish University SCD Events: scd-info@ed.ac.uk. Mainly announcement of forthcoming SCD events within and outwith the University dance societies.
• Tradtunes mailing list, dedicated to traditional tunes from anywhere and everywhere. You can subscribe via the web.
• The KitchenCeilidh list: kitchenceilidh@argyll.wisemagic.com.
• The Ramblin' Rovers discussion list. About the band Silly Wizard.
• The Celtic Cafe mailing list. Subscribe via the web.

  The purpose of this list is to connect members of the Celtic Cafe and to keep all list members informed about various Celtic events, musical groups, dance shows, etc.

• The bagpipe discussion list: bagpipes@onelist.com . Check out the archives.
• The bellowpipes discussion list.
• CBMusic - Cape Breton Music online: The list deals with all aspects of the past and future of Cape Breton music as well as our exciting current music scene, including Acadian, Mi-kmaq, blues, classical, neo-traditional and everything in between.
• The Australian Piper list, dedicated to the spread of information relating to enthusiasts of the Highland Bagpipe in Australia. This email group is also supported in print by the monthly magazine, The Australian Piper, although listees are encouraged to use this forum independently.

• The FIDDLE-L mailing list. For exchanging information, stories and resources related to fiddling.

• The IRTRAD-L mailing list. IRTRAD-L@listserv.hea.ie .
• The Lowland-L mailing list, dedicated to all of the lowland languages including Scots.
• The welsh language discussion list WELSH-L: Send a message to listserv@listserv.hea.ie with a body of 'subscribe WELSH-L'.
• The welsh learners' discussion list CYMRAEG-L: Send a message to listserv@listserv.hea.ie with a body of 'subscribe CYMRAEG-L'.
• Flatheads (flatheads@listservice.net - send mail with 'subscribe' in the body to majordomo@listervice.net to join) is a list for anyone who loves Irish Dancing, specifically for those who are big fans of The Lord Of The Dance and other Celtic dancing.
