Captain Swing play music for English Country Dances, often called Barn Dances or Ceilidhs. This is traditionally a social evening of country dance, music and occasionally songs. The event is led by the caller who leads everybody through the dances.
These dances are fun and can be enjoyed by anyone, of any age, ability or sex. They are ideal for all kinds of social events. No experience is necessary as the caller explains everything you need to know. An entertaining time for all is guaranteed.
The musical repertoire of the band is based mainly on traditional English dance tunes and music written by Andy. This is complemented by classics from 1066 to 1966! The talented line-up of skilful multi-instrumentalists play in a wide range and variety of styles, drawing influences from traditional Roots, Folk Rock, Jazz, Country and Rock 'n' Roll. The music is fresh and exciting, with no two tunes ever sounding the same.

Ceilidh Generation is a young and energetic professional ceilidh band, based in the South of England with performances all over the UK and further afield. We usually perform as a five or six piece band with caller, which includes drums and double bass as well as traditional instruments. However, we also have the flexibility to offer larger or more traditional ensembles if preferred.
All of our musicians are very experienced at playing for ceilidhs, and we have been playing together in various guises for many years now. We use a confident, articulate caller who will ensure that even your most reluctant dancers quickly relax and really enjoy themselves on the dance-floor. We offer a mixture of Scottish and English dances to suit a mixed ability crowd, and our caller is always more than happy to discuss preferred dances in advance if desired.
Finally, we can also offer a number of optional extras to enhance your event, ranging from solo pipers to string quartets and jazz trios. Our competitively-priced disco package is particularly popular, and can provide the perfect way to end your evening. If you are interested in this option, our DJ will be happy to discuss your preferences in advance and create a playlist tailored for you and your guests.

The guys have played extensively at home and abroad for numerous high profile functions and indeed festivals including T in the Park. Due to the wide range of influences of the band members the music has an eclectic mixture of styles from rock to cajun to funk while its roots are firmly celtic and always great to dance to - that's the priority. The accordion player, Davie, is also the bands caller. His humourous, tongue-in-cheek approach is an integral part of the band's performance. All well-known ceilidh dances and indeed some lesser-known unusual dances are called. Tunes murdered, guests insulted indiscriminetely, no function too bizarre.

Formed in Tayside in 1994, The Cutting Edge are doing for Celtic music what Charlie Parker did for Jazz and literally tearing down the boundaries in music. Crossing reels with a James Brownish type groove, merging pipe tunes with an African Chant. Dashing White Sergeant to a fiery Latin American beat Anythings possible with these guys. And they do it with such panache.
The band have excited audiences all over the world with there unique and electric blend of music and songs. Whether its in concert sets or at a Ceilidh dance, I defy anyone to keep their feet still when this exhilarating band crank it up.
