Graeme Mitchell formed his own band in 1982 and three of the original band members still play in the band. They have broadcasted regularly and have made three commercial recordings the most recent of which, is August 2003 which was recorded before a live dancing audience to commemorate the 21st anniversary of the band. They are in great demand for ceilidh dances, weddings, old time dances and accordion club appearances. On a regular basis they play mostly in the North of Scotland but do some gigs in the Edinburgh and Border area. It is also a highlight for the band to make appearances in Shetland and the Western Isles occasionally.

For bigger venues, recordings and broadcasts the band becomes a 6 piece with the addition of Fiddle and Piano, namely Susan Mackintosh and Neil Macmillan respectively.

Graeme has many fine compositions, most of which are published in the book "Graeme Mitchell's Collection". Indeed he was commissioned recently by the BBC to compose a tune for Robbie Shepherd to mark his 21 years as presenter of the programme "Take the Floor" and as recognition of his MBE award.

Recent release title "In Full Swing".

So great is the band's popularity in Shetland that they have twice been invited to play with the Jarl Squad at the Up Helly Aa, a great accolade.
